Discover the power of circles to unleash your emotions

Feeling adrift amidst a whirlwind of emotions? Mandalas, with their intricate and mesmerising designs, provide a serene and imaginative way to delve into the depths of your inner self.

This worksheet will serve as a guide as you embark on the journey of creating a mandala that beautifully captures the essence of your individual emotions.

Keep in mind

  • Experiment! There's no right or wrong way to create a mandala.

  • Focus on the process of creating, not the final product.

  • Be gentle with yourself. This is self-exploration, so allow yourself to express whatever arises.

Remember: This is a personal journey. Embrace the creative process and let your mandala be a reflection of your inner world.

MATERIALS

Gather your supplies

  • Paper

  • Pencils, pens, crayons, markers, coloured pencils, paints (choose what inspires you!)

  • Feel free to download our convenient pre-made template for sketching over (option).

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Set an intention (optional)

Are you interested in delving into a particular emotion, or are you open to whatever comes up? Write a short description of your intention (e.g., "Delve into the realm of stress and its impact on emotions"). Feel free to use prompts if you find yourself stuck in a creative rut. For example, you could try drawing what joy feels like or expressing anger through symbols and shapes.

PREPARATIONS

Find your creative zone

  • Find a quiet space: Minimise distractions and create a safe environment for introspection.

  • Take a few long deep breathes: Calm your mind and ground your emotions.

STEP 1

Create your mandala

  1. Draw the base by lightly drawing a circle in the centre of your page. This symbolises wholeness and your inner self.

  2. Experiment with Lines and Shapes: Follow your intuition. Draw shapes, lines, and patterns inside the circle. Consider geometric shapes or organic forms.

  3. Colour and Feeling: Choose colours that reflect your present emotional condition. There is no right or wrong.

  4. Create more circles and layers:

    • Once you've completed the first layer within the core circle, softly draw another circle concentrically around it to form a ring.

    • Repeat steps 3 (experiment with lines and shapes, colour with feeling) within this new ring to add a new layer to your mandala. You can keep adding rings and layers until you reach your desired number.

STEP 2

Reflect and analyse

  • Examine your mandala: Pause and appreciate what you have created. What kind of emotions or thoughts does it bring up?
Journaling (optional): Take a moment to reflect on any insights, emotions, or memories that arise as you gaze upon your Mandala.
Discovering Patterns: Do recurring shapes, colours, or themes exist? What could these symbols represent on an emotional level?
